Armed Robbers Attack Mobile Money Vendor Near Narhbita Hospital

An armed robbery incident near Narhbita Hospital in Tema Community 4 on December 17, 2025, sent shockwaves through residents, hospital staff, and patients in the area.
The incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m., when four armed men riding on two motorbikes stormed a mobile money (MoMo) vendor operating close to the hospital premises. The suspects, fully dressed in black and masked, were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen confronted the vendor and demanded money, triggering panic in the area. Hospital staff, patients, and nearby pedestrians fled for safety, while unarmed security personnel at the facility were unable to intervene.
Cash and Devices Stolen
The robbers reportedly escaped with a bag containing cash estimated at GH₵20,000, as well as a transaction mobile phone believed to have held about GH₵10,000 in the mobile money wallet. The suspects also seized the vendor’s personal phone before fleeing the scene.
The vendor, visibly shaken after the incident, later confirmed that he had just received fresh operating capital from his employer shortly before the robbery occurred.
Suspects Arrested
Two days after the attack, the Ghana Police Service announced the arrest of the suspects following intelligence-led operations conducted by the Tema Community 4 Divisional Command.
Police sources revealed that one of the suspects lived close to the hospital and had been under surveillance due to suspicious movements. Information obtained from the initial arrest led to the apprehension of the remaining accomplices.
All suspects have since been remanded into prison custody to face prosecution.

The swift arrest of the suspects has been widely praised by residents, who say it demonstrates the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to maintaining safety and security within the community.
The affected mobile money vendor has since resumed normal business operations, as investigations continue.
